What is a partition action?
Video Transcript
A partition action is where one owner of a property brings an action against the other owners of a property. What they're trying to do is either have the court split the property into equal shares, or if the property cannot be split, then they're asking the court to sell the property. These actions are common where multiple owners of a property can't agree on what they want to do with it. They've tried to sell it, or another party wants to keep it, and so they need a neutral third party to come in and essentially decide for them what's going to happen with the property.
